About the Artist

My photo
I just love crafting, the messier the better. Have been crafting all my days but in the last 16 years have been doing more and more. My obsession began with making cards and from there I have tried many different forms of crafting. Great fan of Tim_Holtz love all his products would love to own them all one day. Graphic 45 is another must have for me and again would love to have it all. And then there is Prima well what can a girl say, just simply stunningly beautiful. Really enjoying the vintage, shabby chic and steampunk styles which are very much in vogue at the minute. Love Lace and Pearl trim, you might be seeing a fair bit of it all on here. xx Please keep calling past and enjoy my crafting journey with me. Great Big Huge Hugs Becca xxx

All made using Emblies except for flowers, stickpins, pearl peach bling, bits of material and ribbon and chipboard and matchsticks to make table. Used some various distress inks and mod podge to assemble :-)

Top View
Pussy cat in corner with some garden twine rolled up to look like a ball of wool naughty puss is playing with :-) xx

Front view
Even made a light on roof using an old car light bulb, wrapped in black lace and gold thread to create a sort of lamp shade.

Little Box feet made using circle disks Judie Savage-Lovell sent. Glued 5 in 3 different sizes together to make what looks like wood turned legs/feet.

Thank you so much for looking and I hope to see your wonderful creations over at Crafty Emblies too.

'Distressed - Aged'

Well that will be another fortnight since our last challenge went live and this fortnight is my theme choice.  I opted for 'Distressed - Aged'.  I love Tim Holtz and wanted to try and create something using some of his techniques.

Here is my DT entry for this challenge

This is a wooden tag from Crafty-Emblies which I covered in some patches of aluminium tape and scored and marked to give a patchworked sort of effect.  I then used alcohol inks to create the distressed/aged look, once dried I rubbed over it with sandpaper to bring back some of the silver colour and leave the scored areas filled with the ink.  I added some lace, paper and ribbon flowers, some antique embellishments and some black swirly bling.  To finish the tag off I added some seam binding (coloured and crinkled with Vintage Photo distress ink), brown ribbon and fibres.

Craftymess Daily Challenge

Today's challenge on Craftymess Facebook Group is to make anything and include fabric. I have been making some handmade flowers this afternoon and I decided to add this a my entry for today.

This flower I made using some cream lace gathered with a running stitch, some cream Linen and Dusky Pink Satin to form the rosette style flower and finished off with a handmade pearl flower centre.

I hope you like my creation. Please leave a comment below.

Vintage/Shabby Chic Shadow Box

I have very kindly been gifted this week with a beautiful bag full of Vintage Doily's.  I am ever so delighted and was overjoyed to receive them.  I have been looking for a while with no success so you can well imagine my delight upon opening the carrier bag :-)

As a result I had to make this Shadow box and went for the Vintage/Shabby Chic look.

I took an old mahogany hexagonal shadow box and altered it.  I painted the frame in a light brown mix I have made of Acrylic paint.  On top of that I then painted on some Tim Holtz Picket Fence Distress Crackle Paint to get the shabby white frame.  In the inside I ripped out the old nasty yellow lace and replaced it with some lovely soft cream gathered lace from my stash.  I created a new backing for the shadow box cut to fit within the frame, mod podged on some linen material, added one of the large cream doily's with one of the nice dusky pink ones on top of it.  I printed off the vintage digital image and layered it up onto some dark brown cardstock and sealed it with mod podge too, and touched up around the edges with Inca Gold in the gold colour.  I made the vintage dusky pink and linen handmade flower and finished it off with a pearly centre.  Popped one of the little crochet doily's underneath and finished off with sprays of paper two tone pink and cream roses and ivory baby's breath and cut out appliques from another piece of lace which are tucked under the floral spray on the top left of the digital image.

This is how it looked before

I hope you like what I have done and that I have manged to achieve the Vintage/Shabby Chic look I was hoping for.

Thank you so much for taking the time to come past and visit, please leave a comment to let me know what you think.

Craftymess Challenge #17

Vintage Paris

Wow is it really a fortnight since the last challenge over at Craftymess Challenge Blog?  Just seems like 'Animals with a Blue Theme' went live yesterday, ah well I suppose this last 2 weeks really have flown by.  Not to worry just means that our family holiday to US is getting ever closer 4 weeks yesterday, we can hardly wait!

Anyway thought I would blog today and tell you about the new Challenge over at Craftymess - 'Vintage Paris'  I loved this theme and really like the whole Vintage, Paris, Shabby Chic look.  Here is my DT entry for this one

This altered canvas is a 5"x7" painted in a shabby pink and sprayed with Cosmic Shimmer Vintage Mist in Egyptian Blue and Raspberry to create a shimmery background.  I then cut out an Eiffel Tower shape from an old cereal box and coated it in Sand Texture Gel, painted with Burnt Umber acrylic paint and once dried rubbed with Inca Gold in Gold and Copper.  Added some lace, ric rac trim and pearl beads.  Top of canvas has 2 layers of lace, brown and cream and pearl bead trim.  The tag is from Crafty-Emblies, painted in a coffee mix acrylic paint, Tim Holtz Mixed Mini Grungeboard letters for 'Paris' attached with Glossy Accents and then rubbed with Inca Gold again, aswell as the tag being edged also.  Coloured the Sassy Studio 'Little France Honey' with colouring pencils mounted on cardboard and sealed with Mod Podge.  Handmade Marianne Creatables paper flowers in cream and gold pearlescent paper with pearl centres and other paper flowers from my stash added to decorate along with a feather and a Handmade ribbon flower gifted to me in a RAK.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Sassy Studios  http://sassystudiodesigns.blogspot.co.uk/
They are offering our winner a a choice of 4 Digi images.

Sassy Studio Designs is a fresh new company. We have been designing and selling for 2 years now, and we have been kindly received into the community of digi stampers and crafters. I started designing images shortly after I started stamping, reason being...I didn't hardly like anything else out there I was a young adult woman at the time I was engaged, had no kids, I wanted fun sexy images that I would enjoy using and my friends and hubby would enjoy receiving. I designed images for 2 other digi stamp companies when my wonderful hubby kept trying to get me to go out on my own. So in June 2009 thanks to the few faithful followers I had, Sassy Studio Designs was born!  It has been a wonderful journey starting my own store. We have just grown so much these past months.I still try to keep
Lindsay Dyer: keep with my original philosophy and reason for designing stamps, make them fun and keep them sassy...and yes sometimes even sexy!
