About the Artist

My photo
I just love crafting, the messier the better. Have been crafting all my days but in the last 16 years have been doing more and more. My obsession began with making cards and from there I have tried many different forms of crafting. Great fan of Tim_Holtz love all his products would love to own them all one day. Graphic 45 is another must have for me and again would love to have it all. And then there is Prima well what can a girl say, just simply stunningly beautiful. Really enjoying the vintage, shabby chic and steampunk styles which are very much in vogue at the minute. Love Lace and Pearl trim, you might be seeing a fair bit of it all on here. xx Please keep calling past and enjoy my crafting journey with me. Great Big Huge Hugs Becca xxx

Take Flight 9th Challenge

Oh my word, it is well over a month since my last blog post, where has the time gone?

I have some super exciting news to share with you all.  I am delighted to let you know that I have been asked to join Rhedd and Rosie Anything Goes Challenge Blog as a Design Team Member, a position I said yes straight away to.  Thank you so so much again Sandie for asking me, you really did make my month for me xxx

This is my first Challenge and the theme is 'Take Flight'.  I have really enjoyed creating this project and loved the messiness which was involved with it.  The messier the better for me hehe.

This is a 10" x 12" Mixed Media Canvas.  I have used an old dictionary to create the background cutting up pages and adhering them onto the canvas using Matt Medium.  Once dried I used Tattered Angel's Graphite spray and some Cosmic Shimmers to create a lovely shimmery background.  The cogs are of course from Mr Tim Holtz Cogs and Gears die, which I sprayed with Tattered Angels, rubbed with Inca Gold in 3 different colours, Green, Copper and Gold and edged off with Black Stazon Ink.  I then dipped them in UTEE using my very technical home made Melting Pot (a silver pie dish, one day I will treat myself to the real thing lol).  I cut the hot air balloon using a cereal packet covered in Papermania Chronology paper.  This was also sprayed using some masks and Tattered Angels again.  The works 'Let Your Dreams Take Flight' I printed off using a Word Document and mod podged them on.  I used Creative Expressions Steampunk stamp set for the Bees and also the Steampunk Dressform which was also embossed using gold embossing powder and the wings and body were coloured using some Artist Oil Pastels.  Using the same stamp set I stamped cogs on the balloon using Versamark Watermark ink and brushed over with various Pearl Ex mica powders.  I created the balloon basket by cutting a beer mat in half and covered it in papers from the same stack.  I broke up an old necklace and used the chain to form the ropes to attach the basket to the balloon and the main part of the necklace to decorate the basket.  I finished off with some metal cogs which I was kindly given by my good friend Jane adding a few flat backed black pearls to the centers on the dressform and used some white acrylic paint and bubble wrap to add a bit of texture to the background in random areas.

I hope you like my creation, I am quite pleased with how it turned out and think it fits in with the current Challenge theme quite well.  I also have a YouTube video on my channel please click here to see my project in more detail please feel free to visit my channel and subscribe if you like and see my other creations.
