About the Artist

My photo
I just love crafting, the messier the better. Have been crafting all my days but in the last 16 years have been doing more and more. My obsession began with making cards and from there I have tried many different forms of crafting. Great fan of Tim_Holtz love all his products would love to own them all one day. Graphic 45 is another must have for me and again would love to have it all. And then there is Prima well what can a girl say, just simply stunningly beautiful. Really enjoying the vintage, shabby chic and steampunk styles which are very much in vogue at the minute. Love Lace and Pearl trim, you might be seeing a fair bit of it all on here. xx Please keep calling past and enjoy my crafting journey with me. Great Big Huge Hugs Becca xxx

Rhedd and Rosie's Challenge Blog - Challenge #27 - Anything but a Card

Hello everyone, the winner has been chosen for Challenge #26 over at Rhedd and Rosie's Challenge Blog so if you haven't already make sure to head over and check it out.

This fortnight our theme is

Anything but a Card

Here is my DT project a Desk tidy/organiser with 2 altered glass jar pen holders

I have been wanting to make one of these for ages now.  I got a hold of an old book and folded all the pages in half to create the centre fan which can be used to old notes, reminders, business cards, atc's etc etc.  I then glued the book flat onto some chipboard and created a box around it using Jim TheGentlemanCrafter Structure Strips technique (this is great technique and I would highly recommend you check out his video tutorial here).  I had this lovely bright and funky material in my stash, gifted to me from a wonderful friend of mine who just knew I would put it to good use, I covered the box frame completely in this material using Fabric Glue.  You all have to be so very proud of me for this next bit, as I broke open my Tim Holtz box feet and used them!!! (I did have to take a lot of deep breaths as I love all his stuff and have hoarded these for a long time).  I have decided to gift this to my wonderful friend so feel she is well worth the honour of now owning these said feet lol.  Looking around my craft room these 2 empty candle holder glass jars caught my eye and I thought yeah, they will fit perfectly at either side and be great to act as pen/pencil holders, so grabbed them from their shelf and decorated them with 2 different white laces, some flat backed pearl trim, some bling pieces of broken jewellery and then a wee red lace bow to finish off.  I then rooted around my ribbons and found this red and white edged ribbon which came off of a Birthday cake a few years ago and I thought I could create a double bow effect and hold in place with the beautiful red bling broach which my friend Jane in America so very kindly sent me.

I hope you like my upcycled/recycled project and that it's owner is happy with it too.
