Hello everyone, I hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas and that Santa was good to you all.

Wow we had some fantastic entries for our last Challenge - #23 Vintage Christmas over on Craftymess Challenge Blog, the theme was chosen by myself and boy what a difficult job I had in deciding my Winners and Top 3's!!  After a lot of head scratching and viewing all the entries over and over again I did come to my decision as you will see over at Craftymess Challenge Blog.

Well our new Challenge is now live and Challenge #24 is Show Some Sparkle/Bling.  I am really looking forward to seeing the entries for this challenge.  I love sparkle and Bling and it will be lovely to move on from Christmas now until next year.

Crafty Emblies - 6th Challenge - Toy Box or Toy or Box

Hi everyone, sorry I am a little late in posting this but Christmas and all the festivities seem to have taken over.

I can't believe we are already at our 6th Challenge over on Crafty-Emblies Challenge Blog, WOW doesn't time fly when you are having fun!!

This months theme was chosen by Angela and she chose Toy Box or Toy or Box.  Again the winner will receive a £10 Goodie Box and remember with the very reasonable prices over at Crafty-Emblies this is a good amount of yummy goodness :-).

We have had a little jig around with our blog we are now an altered art/mixed media Challenge Blog - however if you have cards or scrapbooking pages you would like to share with us please visit our sister blog Craftymess - They will be delighted to see your work.

This is my DT project for this Challenge - I made a mini Toy Box from one of the lovely little boxes I brought back from Michaels from my recent holiday to the States.  I painted it with Burnt umber and blended in some white acrylic paint to achieve the old look.  I embellished it with some G45 Christmas Emporium toy images which I fussy cut from the collection.  I used some Crafty Emblies mini alphas on the lid to spell out Toys and used ABC and 123 on the front.  Of course I had to use my favourite Inca Gold to the edges of the box just to tone in with the hinges and closure on the box.  I used gesso inside and then aged it with some TH Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  To finish the whole Toy Box effect I added some Crafty Emblies 'Toys' to fill the 'Box'.

I hope you like what I have made, I am quite happy with how it turned out and love the old aged look I have managed to achieve on a New Michaels box.

Please come over and join in with us at Crafty-Emblies Challenge Blog for your chance to win the £10 Goodie Box.  I look forward to seeing your entries.

Thank you so much again for stopping by and I really appreciate all you wonderful comments.

Crafting Facebook Group Daily Challenge -'Texture'

This is my entry for today's Challenge on the Facebook Group Crafting. The theme for today is 'Texture'

I covered a box canvas in Modelling Paste and added some peaks and texture using a poky tool. I then sprayed it with cosmic shimmers and dabbed with some TH Vintage Photo distress ink. Then layered up some laces and trims and skeleton leaves along with some die cut green paper leaves. I used a homemade pearl white shimmer mist on the rosette trim to add some pearly effect and topped with flat backed pearls. I added one of my handmade shabby chic flowers and had to finish it off with a Crafty Emblies birdcage with I hung from an old gold chain and embossed with shabby pink embossing powder.

Thank you so much for taking a look.

Craftymess Challenge Blog 23rd Challenge - Vintage Christmas

Hi everyone, I have been very busy and over at Craftymess Challenge Blog the theme for our latest challenge has been chosen by yours truly and I opted for 'Vintage Christmas' which I thought would be very appropriate for the time of year, really trying to get me in the Christmas mood.

Here is my DT Vintage Christmas card that I created

For this card I decided to break open my Graphic 45 Christmas Emporium paper, oh my word Graphic 45 what words can I use they are absolutely fantastic, great quality, stunning to work with oh and wonderful to sniff and stroke.  But I gave in and they are no longer hoarded, I have used them now :-)

For this card I used a 5x5 Papermainia Kraft Card, backing paper is a sheet of Vintage Christmas from my stash.  I matted and layered 2 sheets of G45 Christmas Emporium paper.  The Vintage image of the Mother and Children I stickled to make it pop out.  I used some cream lace and trim running down the side, topped with a cream and pearl centered satin flower and finished off with some pop dotted Vintage Christmas embellishments from Lidl.

I hope you like the finished card, I think I managed to capture the 'Vintage Christmas' Theme and I am quite happy with the finished card.

Our sponsors for this challenge is the wonderful Crafty-Emblies who are offering a £10 voucher to spend in their shop and also our lovely Sandra from Somewhere to be Me who is offering a wonderful prize too.

Crafty Emblies Challenge Blog

Challenge #5 'Vintage, Shabby Chic'

Wow what fantastic entries we have had for our 4th Challenge over at Crafty-Emblies.
Our winner chosen by Lisa has now been announced :-)

The Crafty Emblies Challenge Blog has been changed a bit and we are now an Altered Art/Mixed Media only Blog but if you have Cards, ATC, Scrapbook page entries etc. we have teamed up with our Sister Blog Craftymess and your entries are very welcome over there.

Our current theme on Crafty Emblies this month is Vintage, Shabby Chic.  Us teamies have been very busy creating with our Crafty Emblies Goodies please pop over for a look at everyone's creations, they are fantastic.

I have made a Toilet Roll Tube Mini Album for this months theme.

I like my creations to be recycled/upcycled, Practical Usable Art and I think I have managed to achieve this with this piece.  I used 6 Toilet Roll Tubes to create the pages, an old cereal packet to make the cover and this was a great project to use up bits and piece of scrap card and papers I had from previous projects.

I love Vintage and Shabby Chic at the moment, so couldn't wait to get started with this one.  I painted all the tubes with a mix of shabby pink acrylic paint which I mix myself from White and Crimson Acrylic.  Once dried I covered the front and back of the tubes with off cuts of pink papers from a Pink Paisley collection and then constructed the album using the 'Stack the Deck' binding method.  I stuck with the colours Pink, Brown and Cream.  The Album cover was created as I said from an old cereal packet which I also painted in the Pink Shabby Chic acrylic and also covered in brown cardstock and decorated using distressed paper doilies, cream seam binding, flowers from my stash arranged into a spray in the bottom left corner, some lace leaves to were added in behind this spray too.  And of course the whole project was finished of just perfectly with embellishments from the wonderful Judie and Pete at Crafty Emblies

Please come on over and join in with us on our 5th Challenge again the prize for the winner is a £10 voucher to spend on wonderful Crafty Emblies.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I look forward to seeing your wonderful creations too.

Choose a Country

This fortnights theme is 'Choose a Country' and is sponsored by Sassy Images who supplied us with a choice of images to create with.

This is my DT Project for this Challenge.  I have chosen and  coloured the image 'India Honey' available from Sassy Studio Designs using colouring pencils.  The tag I created by finger smudging some gesso over it hear and there and dried it using my Heat Tool.  I then used some TH distress inks, Victorian Velvet, Vintage Photo and Faded Jeans.  I stamped a TH image along with some scroll images I have in my stash.  I spritz the tag with water to change the background effect. Added lots of beads and bling to add to the India feel and tied up with some seam binding coloured with some Cosmic Shimmer in Marigold.  I then added some black trim topped with some pink/black bling mesh (this is the first I have ever had or used this stuff and I love it).

I hope I have managed to capture the Indian Summer colours and added enough bling to this project.

Please come over and join in with us as I mentioned about this Challenge is sponsored by http://sassystudiodesigns.blogspot.co.uk/ and the prize for this fortnights winner is digi images of their choice.
I hope to see your wonderful creations over at

'Distressed - Aged'

Well that will be another fortnight since our last challenge went live and this fortnight is my theme choice.  I opted for 'Distressed - Aged'.  I love Tim Holtz and wanted to try and create something using some of his techniques.

Here is my DT entry for this challenge

This is a wooden tag from Crafty-Emblies which I covered in some patches of aluminium tape and scored and marked to give a patchworked sort of effect.  I then used alcohol inks to create the distressed/aged look, once dried I rubbed over it with sandpaper to bring back some of the silver colour and leave the scored areas filled with the ink.  I added some lace, paper and ribbon flowers, some antique embellishments and some black swirly bling.  To finish the tag off I added some seam binding (coloured and crinkled with Vintage Photo distress ink), brown ribbon and fibres.

Vintage/Shabby Chic Shadow Box

I have very kindly been gifted this week with a beautiful bag full of Vintage Doily's.  I am ever so delighted and was overjoyed to receive them.  I have been looking for a while with no success so you can well imagine my delight upon opening the carrier bag :-)

As a result I had to make this Shadow box and went for the Vintage/Shabby Chic look.

I took an old mahogany hexagonal shadow box and altered it.  I painted the frame in a light brown mix I have made of Acrylic paint.  On top of that I then painted on some Tim Holtz Picket Fence Distress Crackle Paint to get the shabby white frame.  In the inside I ripped out the old nasty yellow lace and replaced it with some lovely soft cream gathered lace from my stash.  I created a new backing for the shadow box cut to fit within the frame, mod podged on some linen material, added one of the large cream doily's with one of the nice dusky pink ones on top of it.  I printed off the vintage digital image and layered it up onto some dark brown cardstock and sealed it with mod podge too, and touched up around the edges with Inca Gold in the gold colour.  I made the vintage dusky pink and linen handmade flower and finished it off with a pearly centre.  Popped one of the little crochet doily's underneath and finished off with sprays of paper two tone pink and cream roses and ivory baby's breath and cut out appliques from another piece of lace which are tucked under the floral spray on the top left of the digital image.

This is how it looked before

I hope you like what I have done and that I have manged to achieve the Vintage/Shabby Chic look I was hoping for.

Thank you so much for taking the time to come past and visit, please leave a comment to let me know what you think.

Craftymess Challenge #17

Vintage Paris

Wow is it really a fortnight since the last challenge over at Craftymess Challenge Blog?  Just seems like 'Animals with a Blue Theme' went live yesterday, ah well I suppose this last 2 weeks really have flown by.  Not to worry just means that our family holiday to US is getting ever closer 4 weeks yesterday, we can hardly wait!

Anyway thought I would blog today and tell you about the new Challenge over at Craftymess - 'Vintage Paris'  I loved this theme and really like the whole Vintage, Paris, Shabby Chic look.  Here is my DT entry for this one

This altered canvas is a 5"x7" painted in a shabby pink and sprayed with Cosmic Shimmer Vintage Mist in Egyptian Blue and Raspberry to create a shimmery background.  I then cut out an Eiffel Tower shape from an old cereal box and coated it in Sand Texture Gel, painted with Burnt Umber acrylic paint and once dried rubbed with Inca Gold in Gold and Copper.  Added some lace, ric rac trim and pearl beads.  Top of canvas has 2 layers of lace, brown and cream and pearl bead trim.  The tag is from Crafty-Emblies, painted in a coffee mix acrylic paint, Tim Holtz Mixed Mini Grungeboard letters for 'Paris' attached with Glossy Accents and then rubbed with Inca Gold again, aswell as the tag being edged also.  Coloured the Sassy Studio 'Little France Honey' with colouring pencils mounted on cardboard and sealed with Mod Podge.  Handmade Marianne Creatables paper flowers in cream and gold pearlescent paper with pearl centres and other paper flowers from my stash added to decorate along with a feather and a Handmade ribbon flower gifted to me in a RAK.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Sassy Studios  http://sassystudiodesigns.blogspot.co.uk/
They are offering our winner a a choice of 4 Digi images.

Sassy Studio Designs is a fresh new company. We have been designing and selling for 2 years now, and we have been kindly received into the community of digi stampers and crafters. I started designing images shortly after I started stamping, reason being...I didn't hardly like anything else out there I was a young adult woman at the time I was engaged, had no kids, I wanted fun sexy images that I would enjoy using and my friends and hubby would enjoy receiving. I designed images for 2 other digi stamp companies when my wonderful hubby kept trying to get me to go out on my own. So in June 2009 thanks to the few faithful followers I had, Sassy Studio Designs was born!  It has been a wonderful journey starting my own store. We have just grown so much these past months.I still try to keep
Lindsay Dyer: keep with my original philosophy and reason for designing stamps, make them fun and keep them sassy...and yes sometimes even sexy!

This Split Paper Bag Album I made using 3 brown paper bags (tutorial I followed on YouTube Channel 'Following the Paper Trail').  I stuck to the colour theme of kraft card, dark brown, cream, gold and copper.  Using the Crafty-Emblies camera as my main focus on the front I painted it brown using acrylic paint and highlighted areas using a silver pen and also a white pen.  I used the Tim Holtz die cut alphabets to create the words 'Picture Perfect' coloured them with vintage photo distress ink, sprayed with Cosmic Shimmer Vintage Mist Marigold and added dimension by building up with UTEE.  I added some Crafty-Emblies cogs which I rubbed with Inca Gold in the Gold and Copper colour and some off cut boarders.  Added 2 dollops of Hot Glue on top and bottom corners and rubbed with Inca Gold too (can you tell what my new toy is at the moment?  Inca Gold fab stuff!! To finish off I rubbed Inca Gold around the edges of the cover front and back.
